Help with surgery expenses?

First off, I am a 26 year old male, partially employed, without insurance of any kind and living at home. Over the past week my impacted wisdom teeth have shifted and become infected, with one of them resting on a nerve of another molar. The entire bottom left half of my jaw and lips are completely numb, and I'm in considerable pain where there is no numbness. I went to the dental clinic of a major university who referred me to an oral surgeon. They also gave me an antibiotic and a whopping 3-day supply of a narcotic pain killer. I have a part time job where my boss does not want me working while taking narcotic painkillers, which I understand. I called the surgeon in question and was told that since I don't have insurance that I need to pay cash up front, as they will not bill me. The expenses will be nearly $2,000. There is absolutely no way that I can front that cost. None. After an exhaustive web search I have come up completely empty with any form of aid. Does anyone know of any charitable organizations or any other means that can help me with this? Please help me!
