Is it a good idea of getting a adult golden retriever from someone giving it away?

we have already two yorkie terriers a girl and a boy but were not sure if we should get this dog. the lady is moving away to another state and is offering it to us for free but i have concerns and i am not sure if it is a good idea to get a dog that is about 2 to 3 years old. my dad works during the day and my mom during the night but is here in the morning and i'm not sure if this dog fits our life style. this dog came from another family in a farm before being with this lady and now she has to give it away so do you think it might bit us or like misbehave or what the lady said she went to take it to school and now its a good dog that doesnt go after frogs,dig,pee or poop,and does not bit furniture the bad thing is that the dog may not get along with my dogs, will bit us, and will misbehave. i use to have another golden retriever but he started digging holes and we were scare that he would bite a frog so we gave him away so i dont know what to do any advice or tips gladly appreciate!!
