Tongue piercing question!?

ok so i got my tongue pierced on sunday and its just now startin 2 get all this mushy stuff on the roof of my mouth and some on my tongue i get it when i wake up sumtimes (that was befor i got the piercing it happened as well) so tell me is that normal?...And i wanna kno how long until i can change the current barbell to a smaller one i want it asap lol kk.
